2009
K&Co Launches
After more than 15 years thriving on the partner track at a larger firm, Scott Kregel felt called to build something bigger than himself: an accounting firm grounded in purpose, relationships, and long-term impact.
During the Great Recession, he founded Kregel & Company CPA with a vision of leading a purpose- and values-driven firm that helps entrepreneurs feel clear, calm, and confident about their finances.
2010-2013
First attempt at B Corp Certification
Inspired by the B Corp movement to create a triple bottom line – people, planet and profits – the K&Co team applied in 2010 to become a B Corp and show our dedication to doing business for good.
At first we didn’t succeed, so we tried and tried again. And it worked! K&Co achieved our first Certified B Corp designation in 2013. We have re-certified every two years since then to maintain our certification and make an even bigger impact.
2013-2020
From startup to scaled success
These were the steady, building years for K&Co. We put our heads down, rolled up our sleeves, and scaled our business to introduce even more people to a refreshing CPA experience. During these seven years, we grew the size of our team by 5x, doubled the number of customers we served, expanded to serve customers nationwide, and applied our finance expertise to increase revenue by 3x.
2020
Kregel Gives
As our business did better, we wanted to do better for our community too. In 2020, we launched the Kregel Gives charitable giving program and donated over $100,000 in four years to Kula, an organization seeking to help eradicate poverty through the development of entrepreneurs in Rwanda’s coffee communities.
2022
Expanding to make a larger, strategic impact
As K&Co expanded across the U.S., we needed a bigger, more distributed team to continue serving our customers well. Hiring military spouses became a natural win-win. They broadened our geographic footprint and strengthened our service, while gaining flexible, remote careers they could carry with them wherever they were stationed.
2025-2026 and beyond
Growth through EOS
K&Co implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) framework to help clarify our vision, gain traction by honing our processes, and drive growth.
We also began planning for our next chapter: coming alongside 200 carefully curated businesses and their owners, along with 100 families, looking to integrate their finances with their personal values for impact with others.
