What we do:
K&Co sends out engagement letters to all customers by mid-January. If you haven’t received your engagement letter by January 25, please contact us.

What you do:
Sign and return your engagement letter by February 15.

What we do:
Our goal is to make this as simple as possible for you. We will send you an email in mid- to late January with a link to your digital tax form checklist and tracking tool.

What do you:

  • Complete the questionnaire, and let us know of any informational updates or changes since last year.
  • Review the checklist and upload the requested supporting documents and information.
  • Add any new items and note if any items from last year are no longer applicable.
  • Securely share bank information for tax payments or refunds due.

Most of our customers find that this digital process is easier than dealing with scattered paperwork, shoeboxes of receipts, and hard-copy forms. However, if you prefer to mail your documents or deliver them to our office, please contact us so we can coordinate.

What you do:
Upload or send us all your source documents by February 15. If you are waiting on a Schedule K-1 for a business or trust, you can upload it when you receive it.

What we do:
Once we receive all your documents, the K&Co Tax Team will thoroughly review them, follow up with you on any missing documents or outstanding questions, and create a single bookmarked file containing all your documents for easy reference. Then, we will prepare a draft of your tax return.

What we do:
After we receive all documents and needed information, K&Co’s CPAs and their support teams prepare your return and deliver it for your review. You will also receive a detailed summary of your return, payments, or refunds due, and the next steps to file your return.

What you do:
Review the return, and ask any questions you may have. Then, sign and return the 8879 E-File forms.

What we do:
Once we receive your signed 8879 E-File forms, we file your tax return with the government. You will receive an email confirming receipt and acceptance by the IRS and the state. Refunds can take 3-6 weeks to receive.

As a B Corp and community-minded team, we also support like-minded organizations doing good in the world. When you file your return with K&Co, we’ll donate $50 per tax return to our non-profit partner.

What you do:
Pay any balances due, and celebrate! You fulfilled your annual responsibility as a U.S. taxpayer and gave back to the community.

Beyond annual tax prep, we also provide strategic guidance and help you navigate questions as they come up, so you can make the right decisions.

This includes taking a step back during the 4th quarter to review results, refine strategies, and plan ahead. You’ll feel calm, clear, and confident every step of the way.

Our team may occasionally reach out to you by phone or text, but only in the context of ongoing work you’re expecting from us. Please be cautious of any unexpected calls or messages claiming to be from K&Co or the IRS. Neither our team nor any government agency will request sensitive information through unsolicited phone calls or text messages.

You can also protect yourself by following best practices, like checking links before clicking or logging in, only making payments to people and entities you know, and turning on two-factor authentication for all online accounts.

If you ever have security questions or notice something suspicious, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. There are no silly questions, and you can never be too safe!

I still have questions. How can I reach you?
